HenHouse Brewing Company
HenHouse Brewing Company’s story started around 20-years ago, when co-founder Scott Goyne realized that he no longer wanted fermentation to be just a hobby. And so he put away “The Carboys” and their indie-folk/country music and got down to some serious business.
From there he took a deep dive into the world of artisanal manufacturing (the production of quality products by skilled workers, prioritizing customer value over cheap prices). He earned a Small Business Administration Degree and took the courses necessary to become a Certified Herbalist.
He formed and ran an industrial processing installation and design business in Morocco and Vietnam and taught essential oil distillation. He fermented pretty much anything within reason. But always in the back of his mind, he knew he wanted to move to Sonoma County to continue his fermentation journey.
Shane, another one of the three partners in the company, comes from the music world. For a decade, he toured nationally and was part of two bands. He was the drummer, and was also responsible for booking the shows, selling the shirts and records, and getting the band from gig to gig on time.
When he wasn’t on the road, he managed production at a co-manufacturing facility in Petaluma, where he and Scott began making beer using Scott’s essential oil distillation equipment.
Brewing immediately clicked as a natural extension of the same creative process that drove his music. The path became clear, and Shane immersed himself in brewing science and technology.
Collin, the third “musketeer” was born and raised in Petaluma, CA. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he competed as a member of their renowned speech team.
After winning a national championship, both individually and as a part of the team, he did a brief stint as a communication’s consultant before deciding brewing was more to his liking.
He began his brewing journey by working at various Bay Area breweries. It was during this time he recognized that gathering together over a glass of good beer in a fun environment, has the ability to strengthen communities.
He took his brewery experience, and his passion for the art of brewing and began to look for a venture where he could put all of his cumulative training toward a noble purpose.
