BROUWERIJ WEST

THE BROUWERIJ WEST STORY
Popfuji - Unfiltered Pilsner - PICKUP — Brouwerij West
The Brouwerij West brand was founded in 2010 by talented brewer Brian Mercer, who, after a career of importing Belgian Candi Sugar for some of the top breweries in the country, spent years as a gypsy/contract brewer traveling throughout California passionately brewing beer without a home brewery of his own.

In 2016, Mercer, along with friend Dave Holop, partnered up to open one of California’s most unique brewery locations in the port town of San Pedro, California. In February of 2016, the new Brouwerij West location opened its doors in a former Port-of-Los-Angeles Warehouse, originally built by the U.S. Navy during World War II.

This location serves as a production brewery, tasting room, and beer garden. It encompasses 26,000 sq. ft., including 8,000 sq. ft. devoted to visitor use as a tasting room, and 17,000 sq. ft. as an outdoor courtyard/beer garden. The overall space can host a multitude of events, including beer festivals, concerts, weddings, conferences and more.

Inspired by the past,  Brouwerij West brewers use traditional ingredients and methods in combination with progressive experimentation to produce their own take on classic Belgian-Style Ales, Pilsners, IPAs and more. Their facility is covered with solar panels and generates more electricity than it uses. And their mash filter-based brewery uses 30% less water than traditional breweries.

At El Toro Gourmet Meats we are proud to feature the following Brouwerij West Beers:

Bounce West Coast IPA – Like a true wildcat, the newest West Coast IPA leaps from tastebud to tastebud with ferocious notes of grapefruit, pine, and passionfruit thanks to the dank combination of Citra, Mosaic, and Centennial hops. While not overpoweringly bitter, Bounce IPA maintains an approachability for every type of IPA lover.

Picnic Lightning – Always ready to ride, Picnic Lightning gallops across your palate with unrelenting notes of citrus, stone fruit, and pine through the use of Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial hops. Smooth from start to finish, Picnic Lightning’s soft, velvety mouthfeel is obtained through the use of Malted Barley, Oats and Raw Spelt.

Dog Ate My Homework – A fresh, decidedly fruit-forward saison, brewed with Washington State blackberries and black currants. This beer is deep red in color, but rather than being sweet like many fruit beers, Dog Ate My Homework is dry, tart, and refreshing.

Come in and pick up a can or two of this and/or many of our other fine craft beers and hard seltzer.  Chat it up with Bobby Bacca, Partner, General Manager, and Beer Curator for El Toro Gourmet Meats.  He’ll be glad to help you pair your beer with just the right main course.
